Match report
Match reports are the views of the author, and not necessarily those of the club.
Anniesland were well beaten by Williamfield.
Positives were an excellent opening partnership of watchful patience from Ramsay and fantastic stroke play from QQ - who sadly chased a rank wide one and fell to a stunning one handed catch.
Lolly and Ed barely troubled the scorers, Fraser though was in the mood. And when joined by Ian put on a great 70+ runs before he too played a poor shot having looked majestic for 41
Ian however stuck in and after Sid sacrificed himself to get Ian on strike he completed a maiden senior 50 at age o f 39. Filled with watchful defence and powerful shots all rotund the wicket. A nice cameo for new and improved beefy James Olney completed matters.
Maybe 20-30 light but their opening bowlers had been good.
In the field it became impossible for QQ to set a field as no one was bowling consistent length or consistently one side of the wicket. Things got worse when Sid appeared to break a finger attempting to make an astonishingly brave one handed catch at silly Mid Off. James O did remove their opener with a beauty but the game was flying away from us.
Some tight overs from me produced a caught and bowled (dropped and smashed hand) a run out chance (broke tip of finger) an edge just short of Fraser but it was all bit late to create serious pressure.
Two young lads from Williamfield both got their 50s (one also a maiden just 25 years sooner than Ian’s) we had a nice tea it was sunny we just weren’t really at the races in the field and game got away from us - fast.
Accies MOTM: Ian a maiden 50 and some solid bowling
Accies Champagne Moment: Ian reaching that 50
