Match report

A tale of four catches and one partnership
After losing the toss yet again Accies were put into the field with Farhan settling in and staring with two maidens and EK beating the bat a number of times. Farhan was rewarded with an early wicket however their overseas launched a couple of huge hits at the other end. At 42-1 it was looking ominous however this was the start of a crazy spell which contained four of the best catches seen at Anniesland in year. First up was Crawf who dived face first towards a skier to take a one hander (he has already checked Frogbox and sadly it was just out of camera view) then it was Sammy’s turn to take a diving effort that went over his head, then Aaron with a similar one in front of the bat and lastly Dave with a diving one handed grab behind the stumps. Suddenly they were 59-5 and we had our tails up. After that it was Dhruv’s chance to shine as he recharged at drinks to take two wickets next over to complete a well deserved 5 wicket haul and it was the spin twins of Sammy and Sheraz that polished off the tail.
A chase of 107 was always going to be tricky and in typical Accies style, we tried our best to make it as hard as possible. Firstly Firoze who was promoted to get us some momentum up top was caught behind shortly followed by Dhruv and Nas all in the 3rd over both caught at slip from their excellent opening overseas who was getting pace, bounce and seam. Just what you want to hear when you come in at 2 for 3 and on a hat trick ball. Sammy was still there and he and Dave consolidated and put away the bad balls until Sammy swept one right out of the middle but straight to square leg - 33/4.
A nervous Nathan then entered the game fresh from honeymoon and it seems married life suits him as after a cautious start, he started to unfurl the shots that we became accustomed to last season. The next 17 overs were a mixture of gritty defence, quickly run singles and hard hit boundaries as Dave soaked up the pressure from the quick and Nathan took on the spinners. Things ended with Nathan hitting the winning boundary to finish things off. All in all a great team performance and some real fight that will hopefully kickstart our season
