Match report

Why can't the weather be like this all the time?  It is also a pleasure to be in charge of youngsters who play the game in the true spirit intended and who respect umpires' decisions.

For a change the Accies youngsters scored more runs than their opponents albeit assisted by 28 extras.  Again however their opponents proved that they were better at not losing wickets.  In fact Accies had to wait until the third last over to gain their lone scalp from a ball actually aimed at the stumps. Full marks to Shaik and Harris Johnston for not losing their wickets. Top score was net 13 from Rory P [bowled]. A final tally of 61 for 7 giving a net score of 26.  Oscar Johnston made his debut for Accies although he acted as a substitute player for the opposition last time out.

In reply the Stenny lads refused to lose wickets until, as stated earlier, Rory produced one of the few straight balls of Accies' attack.  At this age bowling straight at the stumps produces wickets.  Scoring runs didn't really matter for Stenny as long as they didn't lose wickets.  In the end 48 for 1 and giving a net score of 43 was more than enough to win the match by 17 runs. Rory P bowled his 3 overs with 3 maidens, taking the only wicket and giving away no runs - obviously.

It's all a learning process this year but there is a home game against Uddingston next week - bring it on!
