Match report

For some strange reason both teams only had nine men and Accies' 9 were on balance older and stronger even without Ben Mazzucco and the absent Uwais Mohsan.  Why we could not have fielded 11 players is beyond the writer with loads of talent available from the younger age groups e.g. John Oliver?

With the return to Accies of Ewan Stewart and Scott Jeen, both previous junior section members, this was a powerful team. Of the bowlers Cameron Russell was hugely consistent and unlucky to bag only one scalp. Mark Forbes also bowled a tight line getting a couple of balls to rear up at the batsmen. Dhruv was perhaps not at his best but did bag three scalps.  Scott Jeen with his off breaks kept things pretty steady with 2 scalps and Arman Khan took one.  76 all out for West was not a huge total but it still had to be overhauled.

Ewan Stewart was imperious opening with Ruairidh Russell, the latter falling to a good delivery, bowled but only after playing one exquisite square drive to the point boundary.  Dhruv Satpute joined Ewan and finished the game in devastating style - Stewart 25 no, Satpute 35no.

It's off to East Kilbride on Thursday evening for the first round of the National U18 KO competition with high hopes.
