WDCU Select XI's v Japan [UK Tour], Wednesday 1 May 2013
Posted on Thursday 25th April 2013 by Colin Dawson
The WDCU is staging two matches next Wednesday [1 May] with a Scotland Ladies Select XI taking on a Japanese Ladies Select XI at New Anniesland starting at 10am and playing two T20 matches.
Their male WDCU counterparts are taking on the Japanese Men's Select XI at Hamilton Crescent on the same day and starting at 11am in a 50 overs a side match. Our 1st XI skipper, Richard Andrew, is one of the invited players on the day at West.
All welcome to come and watch either or both games.
More information can be found on the WDCU site and also here and here.
Both matches are being organised and sponsored by Bill and Ainsley Mann, both of whom have played for Accies in earlier years.
Let's pray for a decent day and some good cricket.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, tomorrow's Race Night has had to be postponed.
We hope to announce a new date shortly.
Junior cricket practices - Summer 2013
Posted on Tuesday 16th April 2013 by Colin Dawson
Please note that summer cricket practices for junior members start at the main Accies' ground on Sunday, 21 April from 10.30am till approximately 12.15pm and weekly theafter until late August.
Please remember to check the recorded message service in case poor weather requires a change of venue to the Glasgow Academy Sports Hall. The number is 0141 339 3217 but please do not call more than one hour ahead of any start or meeting time.
The final touches are being put on the new artificial practice net area this week. We hope that you will make use of and enjoy these fantastic new surfaces but please note that metal studded footwear will not be allowed under any circumstances either in the net area or on the brand new artificial match pitches that are now completed.
Senior practice - Wednesday, 17 April 2013
Posted on Friday 12th April 2013 by Colin Dawson
Please note that the new facilities are not quite ready for use so the GA Sports Hall has been booked for a practice session next Wednesday, 17 April at the usual times i.e. 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
All welcome especially 1st XI hopefuls, GALS and other team members.
At the time of writing the pre-season friendly against Clydesdale at Titwood this Saturday has been cancelled due to the cold weather and lack of pitch preparation. There is supposed to be a further pre-season friendly against Partick at Hamilton Crescent this Sunday but, as yet, there has been no news about the state of that ground.
The 1st XI has its first competitive match away to Hamilton in the West League Cup next Saturday, 20 April.
Hopefully the new practice facilities at New Anniesland will be operational for week commencing Sunday, 21 April.
Cricket section race night
Posted on Wednesday 3rd April 2013 by Fraser Murray
The latest Cricket Club fundraiser will take place on Friday April 19th at the club house in New Anniesland - the much-awaited return of the Accies' Race Night!
It's a simple fun format: buy drink, place bet, watch race, shout at useless nag, mutter darkly as you repeat it all over again and your teammates count their winnings.
Races are also available for sponsorship at £20. Please contact racenight@glasgowaccies.cc if you wish to sponsor a race - and include the name for the race in your email.
It will be a fun evening for all ages so come along and, with the section recently meeting a significant payment towards the new artificial nets, help to raise much needed funds for the club.
