Summer training sessions
Posted on Sunday 19th April 2015 by Colin Dawson
Juniors
Because of the late finish to the rugby season the first of the summer training sessions will be in the Glasgow Academy Sports Hall from 10.30am to 12.15pm on Sunday, 26 April 2015. Thereafter, the primary location on Sunday mornings will be outdoors at New Anniesland at the same times. In the event of doubtful weather sessions may be transferred to the Sports Hall up until the Academy closes for summer holidays at the end of June.
The usual summer recorded messaging service on 0141 339 3217 will be available for latest information not earlier than one hour in advance of meeting times for match days and practice sessions. Please use this service.
Seniors
Here again the late finish to the rugby season has delayed access to the artificial practice nets and other facilities. Summer training will begin on Wednesday 29 May (though perhaps without the nets). As always, please keep an eye on the website and facebook (external link) for information on cancellations at short notice.
Wednesdays - 6.30pm onwards - Club night - all welcome including juniors in U15 team upwards. Thursdays - same times - principally for 1st and 2nd XI's plus GALS but others welcome.
Fixtures for all teams [senior and junior] for the summer will be posted on the website here in due course.
New covers delivered today!
Posted on Thursday 9th April 2015 by Colin Dawson
After nineteen years of humping the old covers around, the new models were delivered by ACS Manufacturing Ltd this morning and, in glorious sunshine, they do look good. The addition of the various contributing financiers logos is also a major improvement in the overall look. As part of the deal the covers will be enhanced with the addition of side sheets and sheets for bowlers' run-ups, another major improvement.
With thanks to the Cricket Section's benefactor, the Glasgow Academy, the Cricket Development Trust Scotland and also to the Sports Council for Glasgow although we pray that we shall not actually have to use them much in forthcoming seasons.
