Accies Quiz Night 2009: Be Fed, Be Lucky, Befuddled!
Posted on Tuesday 9th December 2008 by Fraser Murray
The Accies will be hosting their annual quiz night on Friday 9 January at the club house in New Anniesland.
Our question setters are labouring away to bring you the ultimate test of trivia and useless knowledge and encourage your brain back to working order after the mindless mayhem of Christmas.
It’s not just about a post- New Year mental work-out – the quiz night raffle enables you to off-load your unwanted presents, excess Christmas boozelake and chocolate mountain onto your hapless colleagues.
Food will be provided by the sponsors of the 1XI teas, the Village Curry House and if that still isn’t enough for you the evening will be hosted by that smooth talking duo Andy and Ed.
Bring friends and family.
All funds raised are invested into the club’s equipment and facilities.
- Date: Friday 9 January
- Time: 7 pm
- Place: Club house, New Anniesland
- Tickets: available on the door
- Prices: £7.50/£5 students and kids

Players' meeting on Sunday 14th of December
Posted on Monday 8th December 2008 by Fraser Murray
We are having a short players' meeting this coming Sunday, the 14th of December from 6:30pm at the top bar at Accies. The bar will be open from 6 - 10 pm and showing the BBC Sports Personality of Year show from 7pm. For all of you thinking that you'll be missing the Strictly Come Dancing Results show it's on Saturday next week, so don't worry!!!
We intend to discuss the forth-coming season, including the selection of the currently unfilled committee positions, fund-raising events and progress with regards to the new nets development. All new and prospective members are very welcome to come along and share a drink or two with us.
The following positions are up for grabs:
- 1st XI captain and vice-captain
- 2nd XI captain and vice-captain
- Confirmation of 3rd XI captain (I believe Farhaj has offered his services again)
- Development XI captain
- Fixture secretary
I can speak from personal experience that these posts bring with them opportunity, enjoyment and responsibility in equal measure. Please don't be shy in stepping forward to help lead the club to the next level. For too long the running of the Accies' Cricket section has rested on a die-hard few. Now is the time to get involved and make the club work for you. If you are one the fore-mentioned die-hards it will be great to see you too!!
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday, the 14th of December.
Andy Dodson
(2008 1st XI captain)
