Who Needs Friends Like These?
Posted on Thursday 20th February 2003 by Fraser Murray
Friday 28th March 7.30pm at Anniesland
Following the success
of the Quiz Night, your fund raising committee thinks you all deserve a big
thank you. We raised enough money to go ahead and subsidise the purchase of
club kit, so this year we should be one of the smartest teams in the city.
We’ve dealt with the “where” and “when”, but now the “why?”.
There is a problem with the pitch drainage at New Anniesland, as a result of the extremely wet weather of the last 12 months. Although the most badly affected area, from the square to the artificial nets, is used mainly by the cricket section, it is also a problem for all of the sections that use the grass pitches. Our section has undertaken to raise a percentage of the repair costs, estimated at £8000, hence the next event. Well you didn’t think that we were finished fund raising did you?
The aim of our evening of action packed entertainment is to help raise money towards the costs of the repair. We’ll be setting a number of challenges and games, loosely based around the BBC show “Friends Like These”. You’ll be in teams again (ideally with 3-5 people per team), so make sure to bring along as many friends and family as you can. It’s a flat entry price of £5 per person, and a similar finger buffet will be provided at half time to help restore grey matter and relieve those aching muscles!!! The entire section young and old are invited as there will be something for everyone. Please put the date in your diary and come along to support the section. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Club Clothing
Posted on by Fraser Murray
In a change to our initial plan we've decided to alter the offer – by
limiting the club’s contribution to embroidered cricket shirts and caps we
can double the number of players we can kit to 50. Each member is entitled
to purchase one shirt (3/4 or long-sleeved) and one cap (baseball or
traditional county style) at the reduced rate. Currently we are unsure
whether the traditional cap will be sized (S, M, L, XL) or one-size fits all
(with an elasticated back), so please specify a size.
Additionally we're again able to offer the Accies Cricket Sweater, last
produced in the early nineties. These are of the pure wool variety – ideal
for wearing on your typical Scottish summer afternoon – and are trimmed with
the club colours at neck and waist. Order forms have been sent out this week
in the latest mailing.
To enable us to place the order in time for the new season your completed order form and payment MUST be received by Thursday 20th March – NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE, so get your order in now! Prices are as follows:
Subsidised Items:
- Slazenger Pro Cricket Shirt (3/4 Sleeve): £16.00
- Slazenger Pro Cricket Shirt (Long Sleeve): £18.00
