Colin Dawson carries Commonwealth Games baton

Posted on Monday 21st July 2014 by Fraser Murray

Our tireless Junior Convenor and Treasurer, Colin Dawson, all geared up to carry the Queen's Baton this morning. Pictured here absolutely rocking that tracksuit, with some of the many friends he's made through the years at Accies, and with many of his current crop of juniors.

If being selected to carry the Queen's Baton is testimony to the quality and dedication of his work in community amateur sport over the past few decades, the number of people turning up to cheer him on is testimony to the man himself.

Congratulations, Colin, from all of us here at Accies, whether we made it down to watch or not, and thanks to Moira Atkinson for the nomination and all who supported the application.

Accies is proud to announce that our tireless junior convenor and treasurer, Colin Dawson, will carry the Queen's Baton ahead of Glasgow 2014.

He'll be carrying the Baton this Monday (21st) at 12:10pm on Crow Road. His route starts at the shops opposite the junction with Marlborough Avenue and continues to the Broomhill Community Centre. You can watch live coverage on the BBC website, or better still come down and cheer him on in person. Take advantage of the holiday Monday and we'll try to go for a drink afterwards.

Accies is very proud of Colin, who is carrying the Baton in recognition of his incredible service to the club and to community amateur sport over a period of decades.
