Pre-season social evening - Friday, 15th April - 7pm for 7.30pm
Posted on Tuesday 22nd March 2011 by Colin Dawson
There will be a pre-season social evening in the main clubhouse at Accies on Friday, 15th April at 7pm for 7.30pm.
During the course of the evening Colin Dawson and other members will give presentations on basic scoring and umpiring in advance of the opening league fixtures the following weekend. This will also provide a great opportunity to meet up with fellow team members, have a few drinks and and catch up with their close-season stories.
The event is free to all and it is hoped that as many senior, lady and junior members [as well as parents if they wish] will come along to support the Section. With a bit of luck you will also gain a little more knowledge and thereby be more confident about becoming involved with these important aspects of the game.
If you are coming along on the night please contact Colin Dawson in advance on colindawson17@btinternet.com with approximate numbers of your party for bar staffing purposes. Please note that under licensing laws juniors under the age of 18 have to be off the premises by 10pm.
Easter Cricket Coaching Courses 2011
Posted on Thursday 17th March 2011 by Fraser Murray
The Glasgow Academy is again running coaching courses during the Easter holidays for any young and enthusiastic cricketer. The courses will be organised and delivered by Mr Vedam Hariharan who is the cricket professional with the Academy during the summer, and a leading overseas coach in Australian and Indian Cricket Centres of Excellence.
These courses will take place at The Glasgow Academy. Several facilities will be used to provide the best possible environment for learning and developing cricket skills and knowledge. This will include the sports hall, which now offers four high quality net areas and the option of splitting into three large open working areas, a smaller gym which provides an ideal venue for more intense technical work in small groups and a large astro-turf area.
The aim of the courses is to provide an exciting environment to learn and develop cricketing skills under expert tuition. Boys and girls are equally welcome to attend these courses. Also, both novice and experienced cricketers will find the courses valuable. All specialist equipment will be provided, although if boys and girls have their own equipment they will be welcome to use it on the courses. The only requirement will be to wear appropriate cricket/leisure clothing and non-marking indoor trainers.
The courses last for a week from Monday 11th - Friday 15th April 2011. There are two different times for the courses, so hopefully there will be an opportunity for all those who want to attend to find a course at a suitable time.
- U13 Course 1 – Monday 11th April - Friday 15th April, 8.30am - 10.30am
- U13 Course 2 – Monday 11th April - Friday 15th April, 10.45am - 12.45pm
Each course will cost £25.
Also running will be coaching for some of our young cricketers (13 to 18 years) at the school sports hall during the first week of Easter holidays from April 4th to 8th, 2011. To improve their batting skills there will be a bowling machine used and there will also be a video analysis of batting and bowling. As he will be working with small numbers, places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
- 13-18 Years Course - Monday 4th April - Friday 8th April - 9.30 am to 12.30 pm
Course costs £35.
