Taking Stock and Moving Forward

It was this time last year, at a specially convened player's meeting, that we voted to endorse an ambitious 5-year plan for Glasgow Accies Cricket Club. The plan represented a collective statement of our commitment to the club and of our intention to do what we could to improve the facilities the club offers and the playing strength of the section as a whole.

One year on, plenty has happened at New Anniesland. Through the hard work of members of all ages, some fantastic things have been achieved, both on and off the field. At the end of the 2006 there is, it seems fair to say, a real sense of ambition and determination around the ground, and much to be proud of.

It seems appropriate, therefore, that we should meet up again to take stock of the season, to recognise how far we’ve come, but also to look forward to next year and to the future more generally. On that basis, an end of season player's meeting is called for the evening of Wednesday 23rd August, to take place either after nets at 8pm. As usual pasta will be available at the cost of £2.50.

Can all playing members of the club, and anyone with an interest in the future of cricket at Glasgow Accies, please attend if at all possible.

Come with your comments about this season, come with your suggestions for improvements, come with your ideas for fund-raising and come with anything else that you wish to say to your team-mates about how the club is run and the direction in which it is headed. If there are any particular issues that you feel ought to be discussed, please drop a note me at andrew.smith@glasgowaccies.cc in advance.

The process of making the 2007 season even more successful than the 2006 season begins here!
