League winning 2nd XI players scoop WDCU prizes

Suraj Suvarna and Suhail Riaz scooped the WDCU batting and bowling prizes for their efforts in helping our 2nd XI (“Anniesland”) to its championship winning run in Division 3 in 2002. The plaques were handed over at the presentation evening hosted by the League Sponsors, Brunton Miller (Solicitors) in October. Colin Atkinson’s objective was achieved and this means that the 2nd XI will be playing in Division 2 next season - only one division lower than our 1st XI.

David Carnegie says, “This was a remarkable achievement by both 'Brave Hands' and 'Chillie' - the competition was hot but it was blown away by our boys!” Colin Atkinson purred contentedly at his team’s effort and said “It will be tough next season as the standard will be that much higher but the lads need a better test of their undoubted abilities!”
