Glasgow Accies Golf Day

The inaugural Glasgow Accies Golf Day took place on Sunday 17th May.  Eventually, after number of cars took a quick tour of a Dumbarton housing estate, our band of 14 "golfers" assembled at the picturesque Vale of Leven Golf Club.

Three groups that could call themselves golfers, including Alex, Nigel, John McNaught and a number of guests, were followed round by two groups that clearly couldn't (Baz, Fraser, Stuart, Abhay, Rishi and Randy). It should be pointed out that it was one of the early group that managed to go down the 18th when they should have been playing the second.

Finishing just in time to beat the torrential downpour, Stuart, following on from his 1XI debut the previous day, upset the golfers to become our first champion.

Randy picked up the nearest-the-pin prize on the par-3 12th, hitting his shot to eleven-and-a-half of Rishi's feet, pipping Stewart Parker's 12-and-a-half of Rishi's feet.  Nige narrowly missed out on the longest drive as he finished just off the fairway.  Baz should have picked up the prize for holing the longest putt to make double-bogey and still not score any points, or for losing the largest number of balls, whilst Abhay went round the course using only 4 clubs.

Your author had an eventful round, sclaffing 4 yards off the first tee to much hilarity and dropping his clubs in a puddle on the second.  Having been forced to mention those two incidents, he feels obliged to point out that he scored the only birdie of the day, with a 3 at the par 4 15th.
