Dr. Andrew Smith PhD contributes greatly to the team on and off the pitch. He is a talented off-spin bowling all-rounder, former club vice-captain, a member of the fundraising committee and the resident authority on Nigerian literature.
Born down-south, Andy is the only Accies player able to boast (not that he does) having county trials, with Durham CCC.
Nowadays Andy earns a living as an academic at Glasgow University while Accies benefits from his considerable cricketing talent.
In his first 4 seasons playing with Accies, he has taken wickets for fun - claiming 8 3-fors (at the incredible rate of one every 5 matches) and a 5-for. His contributions with the bat are often valuable too, playing gun-barrel straight in both defence and attack and savaging half-vollies.
Andy is easy-going and friendly and one of the easiest people to get along with at the club. It is perhaps fitting that he fronts the recruiting efforts of Accies, despite recently becoming a father - congratulations, Andy.
Andy likes to spend time with the team in the Curry Houses of the city and reading big books.
