For the first time since Dougie Lockhart, Accies boasted a new full internationalist in 2008. Edinburgh-born Caroline Sweetman joined up with Accies at the start of the season on a tip-off from the WDCU and has been a regular in the 4th team since then. The February before, she traveled to South Africa with Scotland Women to play in the ICC World Cup qualifiers.
Her arrival may herald the beginning of a new era as Accies has begun to welcome many more women members, where demand before had been nonexistant. This is no bad thing as our affiliated school, the Academy, has begun to push girls cricket and the developing young talents will appreciate having an experienced mentor to look up to.
For those of you out there who appreciate rubbish jokes, ask Caroline about her internationalist exploits and respond with the terrible pun "Sweet, man." I know, I'm sorry.
