Match report

Accies had the better of an ultimately frustrating match on an increasingly damp mid-summer's day.

After winning the toss Andy decided that Accies should bat first - as has become a habit this season. Roddy and Ed established a firm platform for the first wicket, with Roddy departing for 18, with the team score at 43. Following this, two further wickets fell in quick succession which reduced Accies to 47 for 3. Andy and Sam moved the score to 71 before Andy was clean bowled by one of Marscheider's extravagant in-swingers.

This brought the shaky Sheridan (hung-over) and the sober Sam (no hang-over!) together to take the game out of St. Michael's grasp. As the persistent rain drove in from the South the lads cultured runs to all parts of the ground. The Drumfries out-fit were unable to make the damp ball move, as they did in the early overs, to the advantage of Accies and particularly Sam who passed 50 (Magners) in the partnership of 93 for the 5th wicket.

Euan was caught off a Brockwell full toss after a determined and focused hour at the crease for 30 (newspaper). Sam fell shortly afterwards for a magnificent 67.  He was caught at long-off, as he was attempting to place the ball into the rugby stand.

Accies continued this momentum into the final overs with Charles and Raj adding 50-plus for the 8th wicket.  Charles kept his nerve to bag a 50 and another box of Mangers for the team, from the penultimate ball.  In the process he and Abhay pushed Accies past 250 for the first time this season.

The St. Michael’s innings was cut short by the driving rain.  Although two of their batsmen made useful starts Accies reduced them to 57 for 5.  Charles and Kash both extracting commanding bounce from the Accies wicket and Abhay reliably picking up two more wickets.

No result, no points.
