Match report

The second half of Anniesland's season got underway as they made the trip to play Clydesdale 4s at Hamilton Palace. The Clydesdale skipper won the toss and put Anniesland in to bat in a cloudy, wet and windy morning.

A bit of extra bounce off the artifical in the 4th over induced a top edge as QQ found mid on and was caught in the 4th over.

Anandu and Rory batted well together, Anandu continued to see off the new ball while Rory hit the ground running straight away. Anandu then joined the party a few overs later and the 2 stormed their way to a 100 partnership after 10 odd overs.

Anandu hit some brutal shots as he put away any bad ball, a couple of hooked sixes over deep backwards square, a straight six which cleared  the boundary by 30 odd yards and even a 6 over cover.

After he reached his 50 he looked to accelerate and top ended one to the keeper. He ended his innings with 70 runs, hitting six 4s and five 6s.

Rory found point a couple of overs later.

Fraser came in at 4 and had one whizz past his head when he was on 3. The next over he hit 3 4s as he looked to show them why they shouldn't bounce him but got caught whilst trying to hit a 4th for the over.

Sushant made 25 before he was caught off the leggie.

And there was nothing of note from the tail as Sunil got out to an amazing one handed catch, Ekaansh had his stumps absolutey demolished first ball after claiming he should open.

Kapil played another fantastic calm innings for the 2nd week running as he was made 78 and was run out in the last over as he sacrificed his average in the pursuit of 300, a true team player. His innings might of been a 100 if he was 10 years younger and could run harder.

Anniesland finished 299/4.

With the ball Sunil and Ek opened up.

Ek taken off after 1 over as Sid came on to get through the overs quickly and beat the rain. Sunil got the breakthrough in the fifth with a great yorker that hit the batsman straight infront. He then clean bowled the number 3 in the 7th over.

Sid bowled accurately as usual and was awarded 3 wickets for his efforts, he also had 2 easy catches spilled off him. Shortly after drinks Karan took the pads off as he got ready to bowl, QQ took the gloves and proceeded to drop one off his very first ball that would of went straight to fraser at first slip (sorry EK).

Akshat bowled in dangerous channels and got a wicket for his efforts.

Karan managed to rip through the tail with a triple wicket over in his 2nd over, and then got a 4th wicket the next ball.

Overall, a strong performance with the ball, but room for improvement as Clydesdale did get given chances and could have had us for 100 less if they took their catches.

Four catches dropped from us is poor as well.

POTM: Kapil 78 runs and 3 overs for 7 runs.

Champagne moment: Karan's 4 wickets in 6 balls
