Match report

Having been told that Torrance could only muster 7 players Dobs took the initiative to increase Martin's pool of 11 players to 13 and agreed to play 10 a side rather than cancel the match.  Ronnie Singh would take over the captaincy of the Accies' team and Dobs, Davie McAllister and Rick Mukhophadyay "guested" for Torrance.

It was a cracking afternoon and the Torrance lads were delighted to have the opportunity of playing on the main Accies' square - a real treat for them.  Having won the toss Herbie Hove had no hesitation in opting to bat first.

After a decent start from de Brincat, an Aussie, and young Jamie Allan wickets began to tumble. At 57 for 6 the decision to bat looked a bit dodgy but a stand of 43 between Rick Mukhophadyay and Willie Traynor looked to put the decision back on track.  Rick was then run out by half a length by a direct hit from Habib Safi and that was pretty much that.  A little further resistance from Messrs. Dobs, including an exquisite cover drive for 4, and Traynor took the total to 112 all out. Hussain Mohsan's 3 for and a couple of scalps for Vishal Mishra contributed the major share of the opposition's downfall…..but it was 113 to win.

With a distinct lack of recognised batting in the Accies' side and the early losses of both Gilkison and Safi, Ronnie Singh and Uwais Mohsan took the score into the 90's before both were out leaving another 20 or so needed with only Hussain Mohsan, Vishal Mishra and Prabhmeet Singh remaining.  It was getting tense….but Mohsan and Mishra took the score up to the famous "Nelson's" before Mishra fell.  Mohsan finished the match with a boundary.

Young Jamie Allan was the pick of the Torrnace bowlers with a 5 for although the steadiest was Aussie de Brincat.

Torrance are looking for a rematch if a suitable Sunday can be found.
