Match report

On only his second match as captain of the Midweek XI, Waj Bashir and his select took on one of the more formidable of evening league opponents; Queen’s Park.

The toss was lost and Accies were invited to field, and to no great shame either. Under 15s Chris Allen and Nirvik Ganapathi bravely took on the hard-hitting Queen’s Park openers and bowled in areas the merited far tidier figures.

The next spell of bowling featured Chris Dunbar, a talented Accies newcomer, and Corrie Dick despite a lack of training attendance. The pair did well in reducing the run rate and took 3 wickets between them.

Tom Sutton (OS) and Brian Dundas (RM) then concluded the innings with a wicket each.

Rutraj Soman and Chris Dunbar opened up for the second innings making a promising 102 from the first 11.1 overs. Raj, who was unfortunately dismissed soon after made 58 runs including a flourish of sixes and fours in the lead up to his 50.

After the fall of his wicket things took a turn for the worse as Accies conceded a further 7 wickets before finishing on 140- a respectable 20-over total by any standard!
