Match report

Glasgow Accies had lost out to Berwick in the round robin stage, but were handed the chance to retain their title and atone for the early loss in a winner-takes-all final.

Richard Andrew lost the toss (again) and Berwick chose to bat (again).  This proved to be a good choice with the light fading and the ageing pitch, which had held up superbly despite the torrential rain of the past few weeks in Berwick, finally starting to play inconsistently.  This was evident in the modes of dismissal of the Berwick batsmen, four of whom fell lbw as they struggled with the inconsistent bounce and some solid stump-to-stump bowling from the Accies attack.  Berwick's final total of 49 was one of their lowest of the day, but was always going to prove competitive with conditions as they were.

Indeed, the total looked beyond Accies after a tight first over from the Berwick men.  Accies woes were compounded when leading run-scorer Dowers failed to hit consecutive slow full-tosses anywhere but straight up and what could have been a match changing moment passed by.

Accies slumped well short of Berwick's score, and the home side deservingly regained the title.  A massive thanks goes out from everyone at Accies to everyone at Berwick who helped make this day so enjoyable.  We all look forward to returning next year!
