Match report

The calm before the storm!  The forecaast for the weekend is awful but this was a very pleasant evening.

The inevitable daft run out in the third over belied the otherwise pretty sensible batting by the Accies' youngsters who played the good bowlers competently.  Only two batsmen scored negative runs in getting to 81 for 4, net 61.

The Helensburgh lads also played sensibly and concern was being felt when there were still no wickets down by the 15th over and the score on net 44.  Only 18 required from the last 5.5 overs.  However perseverence prevailed and suddenly straight balls were being bowled.  With the final "pair" coming to the wicket team manager Dawson was given the choice of two players to make up Helensburgh's 8 and he made the correct choice.  The "sub" batsman fell three times and the result was never in doubt!

Apart from the resurgence of wides in Accies' bowling the only other adverse comment about a competent all round performance was the insistence of certain members of the team to talk during a bowler's run up. This has to be stopped - it is unrespectful to the opposition batsmen.
