Match report

A real turnaround from last Friday's outing against Kelburne and sweet revenge!  Scoring runs for both sides was very difficult due to the length of the grass and the big factor between the two teams this time was that the Accie youngsters kept their wickets intact…almost!

Lewis Oliver caught wide-itis however [last Friday 4-2-2-3 with no wides; last night 4-0-14-1 including 8 wides] although he was not alone.  Overall however the bowling was pretty good with Duncan Kilpatrick generating real pace and accuracy with 2-2-0-1.  Lewis took a very good caught and bowled and also another catch. Fielding also was good and merited a positive comment from a certain Dougie Wylie whose son was in the Kelburne team.  The Kelburne umpire also commented that the Accies' pitch and square was the best he had seen all season.

As mentioned above the length of grass was a real factor in the lack of runs scored from the bat but, credit to the Accies' lads, they did not try to hit the ball too hard and merely accumulated the number of runs required without losing as many wickets.

When posting the result to thw WDJCU website last night I was greeted by some sad news in that Stenhousemuir had played West on the previous evening in yet another rearranged match and had won.  This unfortunately means that they and Kelburne are now both in top spot in the U11 league and Accies can not catch them.  Tomorrow night's match against West will therefore be the final match this season.

This team has come together well during the course of the summer and there is plenty of ability still around for next year even though losing some older players to the U13's.
