Match report

If one reads the scorecard in depth one will realise that the way Accies play their games differs from that of most opposition teams.  West did actually have 11 players but over the piece they only used six for either or both batting and bowling - the other 5 "attended" the match.  Of the Accies team and only after a slight rearrangement of the skipper's batting order all but one had a part in either bowling and/or batting.  I can only apologise to Euan McLeod on behalf of the earlier batsmen that didn't get out but that sometimes happens in cricket.

Having said that West was the stronger side overall - their batting technique was better and they hit the ball further on what was an unusually large outfield with longish damp grass.  They also used only their 5 top flight bowlers creating great pressure on the Accies lads with an always climbing run rate.

This is the great dilemma facing us - do we play to win thereby having "bystanders" in the team like West or do we have "team participation"?  At this age group and below I believe it's the latter approach but others may disagree?
