Match report

A couple of the West team were seen shedding some tears after their defeat at the hands of the Accies' youngsters.  No one could have predicted this result when, after 14 overs, the Accies' score was only 18 - real "test match" stuff and coastal erosion didn't have a look in.  However skipper Ramsay was still "in" and Thomas Aston had joined him in the 8th over.  The pairing plowtered on until the aforesaid 14th over but then something miraculaous happened.  The "floodgates" opened and Messrs Ramsay and Aston plundered 38 runs from the last 5 overs.  Just as well but even 59 should never have been a big enough total for West.

With a first five batting line up of Day, Ewing, Guy, McCallum and Thornhill the task should have been plain sailing.  However a miraculous overhead catch by Lewis Gilkison started a complete rot in the West camp.  Russell, Donaghy and Percival grabbed three wickets each with Oliver picking up the remaining one and great was the jubilation thereafter.

This was the U13's first victory for over a season and well merited in the final anlaysis.
