Match report

After a complete annihilation of our bowling attack by the Clydesdale batsmen at least our own batsmen made a decent if futile response.  Paddy Barbour with 97 was the pick of the 'Dale team taking a particular liking to Nirvik Ganapathi with four enormous 6's in his final over!  Why did Accies only have 9 players?  Why did the bowlers [with the exception of Connor McInteer] insist on bowling either leg stump or straight with only two legside fielders [latterly three] for the majority of the 'Dale innings?

If this had been any other normal U18 match a total of 149 would have been a useful target but this was Clydesdale at nearly full strength at Titwood!  Needing 11 per over from the outset the reply was pretty consistent at 7 per over against 11 fielders and bowlers that generally bowled a more consistent line and length.  Habib and Nirvik got into the 30's whilst Iain and Ben chipped in with 'teens and a late flurry from Connor with a 20 including a well contrived 5 off Sam Page!

The U18's are the flagship team of the Junior Section but can't expect to perform consistently without a full team on the field of play even if it does mean utilising U15's or even good U13's.  Field settings are vital in limited over cricket as are bowlers required to bowl consistent line and length at the field set either for them or by them.  Lessons to be learned?
