The Tryst 123 all out (1 pt) lost to Anniesland 124-4 (25 pts) by 6 wickets.
Match played at The Tryst, Larbert on Saturday 20th May 2023 at 12:00.
Western Union Championship Three, 40 overs-a-side.
Toss won by Anniesland, who elected to field.
Even early season this felt an important match both these sides chasing needed promotion their respective 1stXI in Prem and Prem 2 albeit Stenhousemuir doing better in Prem than Accies in Prem2 at the time of writing.
Tryst have a lovely oval and great clubhouse so all set for a nice day of proper Cricket. QQ won the toss and elected to bowl with conditions a touch overcast and demand for fewer wides he also sprang a surprise as joining young Sohrab with the new ball was Sid.
Sohrab bowling his most mature and controlled spell for the club struck first a great leg side snaffle from Suraj. Shortly after a brilliant piece of work saw Tryst no.3 run out by Anandu with a direct hit from point as he went grazing.
A brilliant first 20 only marred by one drop behind of the superb Sid and one non attempt in the deep (picked it up late) also off Sid and a one solitary misfiled. Drinks 40-2. Superb.
First ball after drinks their excellent number 4 just chipped short of Crick a third life for him and he cashed in with a series of good shots. Enter Kapil who started to take wickets at will.
Even with several catches (no easy ones) not quite sticking behind he picked multiple scalps with a brilliant display of leg spin bowling.
Andandu got his debut wicket and then Kapil rattled through the tail finish with seven wickets.
In reply Tryst opening bowler was brisk medium outswingers so teeing off from the crease not ideal as Crawford and Kapil discovered. QQ had a bit of a mare and spooned to point we were in bother. 13-3.
However Fraser Murray batted a knock of experience and patience. 38* over 30 overs ably supported by Sathish a solid 27 and a fluent Suaraj with 17* saw us home with no more drama.
Everyone contributed and whilst Dilly and Ed did nothing but field (in Dilly’s case really well) that is sometimes all you need to do.
Promotion is the goal this is one more step on that journey.
POTM: For the second week running with Captain’s nod for Kapil; 7-32 off 10 rather brilliant.
Champagne moment: Fraser who already had a chanceless 38* to his name running, as non-striker, a brilliant intelligent bye to short fine leg to get the game done.
