Match report

Alps won the toss and invited Maress to bat. Maress as usual started to build their score slowly. Alps got the first break through in the 7th over when Ham bowled McKeeking for 7 runs. Then Ingram senior and Ingram junior took charge and kept on piling runs slowly and after a 52 runs partnership Ingram senior was dismissed by a diving catch by David. Ingram junior batted superbly to remain not out for 50 runs at the end of Maress's innings, helped by Farhaj, who managed to drop him at mid on; what was an easy catch (was there a collusion or did Farhaj felt sorry for Ingram junior??????). Before the end of the innings Alps managed to get 4 more wickets, good catches by Raj and Myles, superb stumping by Sats (Alps may well have found a new wicket keeper). As usual Ham and Haydn bowled superbly and both were rewarded with two wickets each. Myles also bolwed well but was unlucky not to get any wickets. Alps were denied one run out, direct hit by Farhaj; two superb stumpings and a caught behind by Sats. Maress's captain explained that they had 6-7 players who have never played cricket before, the question remains, why were they umpiring!!!!!!

Alps started their innings after what was a good spread for tea. But lost their first wicket in the 3rd over when Raj fell to a straight ball by Ingram Senior (showing lack of net practice). Young Ross then took the challenge with the veteran George, together they managed a 72 runs partnership before young Ross was tempted to hit a slow bowler and was bowled out. George followed shortly trying to sweep the same bowler straight to the keeper. Young Myles was bowled out in the next over trying to hit another slow bowler, his words were “I couldn’t resist”. Well he has to show more patience if he wants to be bat up the order, otherwise tail end is where he will end up. Sats and David batted superbly and following their captain’s order not to force him to bat and completed the match with an 88 runs partnership.

Recommendation:

Farhaj and Waj to practice their catching skills.

Raj and Myles – more batting practice
