Match report

Accies fielded a very young side against a very strong Drumpellier team most of whom had returned for another season of U11 cricket. The evening provided perfect conditions for players and spectators alike.

Accies' youngsters' inexperience was however overtaken by their enthusiasm and never say die attitude even from the five players that were only a mere 9 years old. Every single member of the team has the potential to improve over the course of the coming season and there will not be too many Drumpelliers about.

Considerable work will have to be done to improve both bowling consistency and batting skills but the major plus point of the evening was the team's fielding. For such a young side I was very impressed by some of the attempts at catches that would have been blinders if taken and awareness of the need to back up the bowlers, wicketkeeper and other team members was excellent.

I am confident that with some stump to stump bowling the team will win matches as the season progresses. Another plus point is the number of further potential U11's that may join in the near future.
