Match report

Accies youngsters made heavy weather of bowling and fielding against Poloc although Ruairidh Russell and Cameron Horne did achieve direct hit run outs. Ruairidh Russell was the pick of the bowlers who otherwise contrived to give away 26 wides costing a massive 52 runs.

In return the Poloc lads only gave away 30 runs in wides whilst Accies contrived to lose 12 wickets which, at a cost of 5 runs apiece, reduced our total score from 62 to a mere net total of 2.

As this age group is so big it is intended where possible to field teams of 10 Accies' players whereas most opposition sides will probably only field the required 8 players.  This means that Accies have 5 pairs batting 4 overs each with the opposition batting 4 pairs of 5 overs each. It also means that Accies supply the opposition with 2 fielders on a rotating basis so that each team has 10 fielders.  It turned out that when Thomas Aston was sub-fielding he took two stunning catches off his own team mates and that is as it should be.  Well done Thomas and perhaps the Accies' lads should think twice in future about shot selection when he is on the field of play.

A considerable losing margin of 58 runs on the day but it was the first outing of the season after Ferguslie had withdrawn from the league just before their previous week's fixture against the Paisley side.
