Match report

This match saw debuts for this season of Rory Paterson and the long awaited presence of Duncan Kilpatrick. Duncan was his usual livewire self being absolutely everywhere on the field of play.

Accies batted first on a beautiful summer's evening [prelude to a miserable Saturday?] at Glenpark which has to be a dream for any player to grace.  The first couple of pairings did reasonably well and set up the scenario for Lewis Oliver and Ethan Duncanson-Ward to add 35 without loss. This turned a negative 2 score into a plus 33 score, a base for the final two pairs to work on.  Pair 4 lost a couple of wickets to reduce the score to plus 31.  The final pair of Kilpatrick and Aspinall saw some brilliant quick singles engineered by Kilpatrick and two of the best strokes of the innings, a cover drive from Aspinall and an on drive from Kilpatrick.  Unfortunately they also managed to lose 3 wickets in the process but the final total rose to plus 38.

Many of the Greenock team appeared to be new to the game but the Accies' bowlers generally bowled tight lines.  Lewis Oliver was on fire behind the stumps with 2 stumpings whilst wickets were shared between Pierotti [3], Duncanson-Ward [2], Irfan [2] and Fin Brown [2]. Fielding again was generally good but sometimes concentration was lacking and some players kept wandering from the positions set for them. Greencock minus 12 and a win by 50 runs.

A good day at the office overall.  Next week is a free week unless I can convince Greenock to play the early season postponed match at the School Ground.  I shall know by Tuesday.  Failing that there will be a practice session next Friday.
