Match report

Having suffered a heavy defeat last week the team showed great resolve in manufacturing what turned out to be a comfortable victory against an equally young Stenny team.

The batting improved as did the bowling and the fielding which ought to be the case when team members begin to play regularly with each other. Highlights were Rory P's 15no with the bat including three boundaries smashed from one unfortunate Stenny youngster and his diving catch, made to look all too easy.

In fact the whole team worked hard together with ground fielding being excellent and good backing up at the stumps whilst, apart from Rory P, other scalps were taken by Faatima Gardee, Mark MacAndie and Zaq Iqbal.  Line and length were vastly improved by everyone from the previous week's performance.

Although Luca McGowan may not like to hear it I was impressed by his awareness behind the stumps before Mark MacAndie took over to enable Luca to have a bowl.  If I can get Luca's agreement I would like him to have a spell as wicketkeeper every week as he definitely showed potential in that art.

As an aside everyone who took part in this match should get a medal for braving what must have been the second coldest day that I have experienced this season, the coldest being my scoring effort for Accies 1st XI down at Irvine [no surprise there!].

Onward to next week's match away to Uddingston.
