Match report

A fantastic victory from an enthusiastic U13 side.

Skipper for the day, Lewis Gilkison, and Simon McAlpine-Scott kept the Greenock openers quiet, conceding just ten from the first four overs. Briggs took to the change bowlers, smashing sixes before being retired.  Hood, Gordon and Murray (on debut) picked up deserved wickets and a special mention must go to U11 Kit McLennan of Greenock, who offered his services to Accies for the evening, bowling two overs for just one run.

Accies reply got started with the loss of Gordon and Horne cheaply to Greenock's excellent openers, who showed both pace and control.  Those two early strikes, however, were the only successes the hosts would enjoy.  Thomas Aston, composed and untroubled throughout his innings, unleashed a flurry of cuts and pulls and raced to 30* by the end of the 10th over. The steady Moffat was joined by Gilkison, whose determination to pull off a win as captain was evident in his performance.  His innings was reminiscent of a young Andy Dodson, powering boundaries and with running between the wickets which could be described as anything from ambitious to suicidal.  Moffat provided support with a straight bat and timely boundaries and the two put on 56 without being separated.

There were a lot of positives to take from this game, especially with so many of the players involved remaining U13 for the coming season.
