Match report

Weirs/Hillhead won the toss and elected to bat.  The by now customary two of the top three batsmen reached their retiral figure of 30 putting pressure on the young Accie bowlers.  The running of quick singles was excellent and placement of shots equally as good always seeming to just elude the fielders resulting in a steady run rate of six per over throughout their innings.  125 for two was a good score.

Rick Mukhophadyay and Adam McMurray opened for Accies but either failed to make contact with the ball or ignored what runs might have been available and after seven overs the score was only 20.  This left over 100 runs to be scored from the remaining 13 overs at a run rate of 8!

When Mukhophadyay was run out in the eighth over Jamie Percival took the stage and after taking a few balls to get his eye in he began to swat the bowling around and especially through the midwicket area.  McMurray began to find the middle of the bat briefly before falling for 16. Percival carried on to another mandatory retiral [31].

Unfortunately the slow start had put the task beyond the Accie lads although Tom Keeley and Cameron Rome made a final effort to keep the score moving.  A final shortfall of 23 runs from target - a decent effort in the end but 20 runs short of par at the top of the innings.

Overall [I am advised] this was a much improved performance from last week and Jamie Percival is a natural captain. Unfortunately he is off on yet another holiday and unavailable again next week.
