Match report
No changing facilities and no points summed up GHK's effort at Old Anniesland and the groundsman [on Monday evening strike] may have something to say about the unexpected use of one of his grass pitches. However Accies made very heavy weather of securing a victory over the auld enemy.
Perhaps the pitch had something to do with it but 123 runs for the loss of 17 wickets was mostly down to poor shot selection and a kamikaze run out for each side. Accies bowling was tight and especially pleasing was Duncan Kelso's spell that contained only the 2 wides attributable to him not trying to bowl too fast. It's not that often he produces figures of 5-2-7-1 and that 1 was well worth waiting for as the stump cartwheeled some metres before coming to rest. That is not to ignore the contributions from the other bowlers who all performed well and I have no doubt that Pat Bell enjoyed his 3 wickets against his pals. A final GHK total of 61 should have presented few problems for Accies - well should have!
Charlie's first strike was a massive 6 hit after which he got his head down for a while before getting bowled. Duncan stroked a swift 9 then played all round a straight ball and perished the same way. Scott Young tried catching practice and Ali Crawford had a swing at another straight ball. Gregory Gardiner steadied the ship for a while before shaking hands with Nirvik Ganapathi in the middle of the pitch before trudging back to the "pavilion". Connor McInteer gave further catching practice and Iain McCallum had a first ball "wahoo" leaving the sensible batting to Nirvik and Tom Bonnington to see the lads home - just!
If the weather forecast proves to be correct it is onwards tomorrow night to Meikleriggs [not] so that'll probably cause Waj and his Midweek XI more problems later this week or next.
