Match report

Undoubtedly this was a strength in depth Accies team and it was disappointing that EK/Uddingston combined U18's could only muster 9 men.  The lads had a job to do and how well they did it on a glorious evening at Bothwell.

Put in to bat by EK and straight away Dhruv and Kerr set about the bowling on a fast track and outfield. Kerr [12] chipped a caught and bowled to the second ball of the change off spin bowler Balkrishna bringing Ben to the crease.  Dhruv continued serenely whilst Ben tried to hit some early balls out of the ground but, luckily, always falling between fielders.  After a quiet word from the "neutral umpire?" he settled down and began to stroke the ball all over the ground deftly splitting the field between cover and extra for sumptuous boundaries.  It was only after he had 60 runs under his belt that he took on the shorter boundary for maximum hits.

His partnership with Dhruv was worth 125 runs in 11.3 overs during which Dhruv found one of the longer boundaries for a sweetly struck maximum.  Sadly Dhruv [48] was bowled just short of his own half century with Ben needing 19 from the final three overs for his ton.

By this time most of the EK fielders were on the boundary.  Ewan [13] joined Ben striking a couple of boundaries but was eventually run out chasing down the magic 200 run mark but Ben never found the boundary again.  Unfortunate but a superb innings of 91 not out.

The only resistance from EK/Uddingston was offered by Gopiniar [46] in the face of some accurate Accies' bowling from all their bowlers.  A resounding win and progress to round 2 at home against Ayr U18 later this month.
