Match report

With only 6 players at 2pm this afternoon Cameron Russell was frantically on the phone trying to get a team together. Thanks Cameron for getting the lads up to 9 including a still hobbling Simran Singh.  The two Simmers brothers and Simon McAlpine-Scott made their U18 debuts at start of play.

Star studded Ayr decided to bat and things looked ominous after 9 overs with the score on 67.  Three crazy run outs [Fehzan Irfan 2 and Simon McAlpine-Scott] plus three quick fire wickets from Usmaan Irfan turned the innings on its head with only 21 runs coming from the last ten overs including four tidy overs from Stevie Simmers and Simon. 88 all out!

The reply was looking pretty good at 54 for 4 after 11 overs with Satpute and Hay at the crease but suddenly the skipper was in the hutch .. bowled for 23.  Leon Hay continued for an unbeaten 23 but ran out of partners.  A Finals' Day had beckoned … so near yet so far!

This was a match that could have and should have been won… with a full 11 men.
