Match report
Another successful day at the office for the lads. Various mix-ups combined for Ferguslie to arrive with only five players as against our usual full squad of ten. Yet again this made batting pairings difficult and having to help Ferguslie out with a couple of extra fielders for the entire match. Full marks to the lads who took on their extra duties without complaint.
On cue at the start of the match it poured but soon the sun came out again and the Accies' lads contrived only five dismissals - getting better each week! Our three Under 9's [Fraser McAllister, Fraser McDonald and Euan Cameron] again made decent contributions with bat, ball or both. DrewCameron yet again had a not out innings, his third in succession emulating Ruairidh Russell's efforts of last season and Jamie Percival also carried his bat. 111 for 5 was always going to be challenging unless the bowling was to fall apart. Not so!
Apart from Jamie Percival suffering "no ballitis" everyone did the business with only 12 wides [@ 2 runs each] in the innings. Debutant U9 Fraser McAllister hit the stumps with his very first ball as did Alistair Fry and the wickets for a change were spread around the team.
Another good effort lads - there are signs that this could be a really decent team this season - keep working at your game and at being such good and enthusiastic guys to work with.
As a final point for the aspiring older lads the Ferguslie umpire was Sam Scott who is the team manager for Scotland Under 13's. I hope you took note of anything he may have said to you out there? Like any coach he has always got his eyes open for budding talent.
