Match report

5.55pm the rain started - 6.50pm the match started!  Reduced to 15 overs per side.

Lewis Oliver was the only batsman unlucky enough to lose his wicket - the other 9 held their nerve and produced "not out" innings.  What a difference only having 5 runs deducted makes!  The grass was long and wet ensuring that singles were the order of the day.  36 for 1 [net 31] was going to prove a difficult target for the Prestwick youngsters.

Hamza Irfan levelled the wickets score in the first over of Prestwick's innings then Brendan Clarke chipped in with two wicket maiden overs and followed up with a run out.

Fraser McAllister unusually kept wicket and was a real "jack in the box" completing another two run outs.  He did a lot of wicket-keeping things right, has a good pair of hands and was quick to stop any attempts to sneak a single by the P'wick batsmen.  He just happens to be a decent bowler as well.

Other scalps were taken by Lucas Pierotti and Hamza Gardee to add to his catch.  With Area Championship player Fletcher Rao in for the final pairing for P'wick he would have to perform a miracle to win the match for the visitors but it was far too much to do although he did prove to be the best batsman on view in the entire game.

The overall impression on the night was that this was a team willing to help and encourage each other and there was a general buzz about their performances.  It was just great to watch!  Long may it continue.
