Last game of the season. Rain in the air. Accies U11s hungry for another victory…
We lost the toss and were put into bat. On the whole a fine performance with plenty of not outs as usual. This Accies team has learned an important lesson it seems over the past few weeks - every wicket is precious and silly slogs will let the team down badly.
As a result, a lot of our boys will graduate this season into real cricket (u13) from next year, where if you're out, you're out and if they continue to bat in this manner, will give a lot of teams a run for their money and score plenty of runs in the process. Everything starts with a sound defence!
The only dissapointment today were a few close calls and silly run outs.
Onto the field after scoring 75-5, the now well drilled Accies youngsters kept pressure on the Weirs batsmen by limiting singles and vocally supporting their team mates. Tight bowling, a few too many wides creeping in again, but 7 wickets in total meant victory was never in doubt.
Thanks to all who played this season, a fine nucleus is moving on to the u13s and the remaining u11s have some great potential too.
Please look out via email for some exciting plans for Winter training for this age group starting Sept/October hopefully and also our end of season dinner and prize giving -hope to see you all there!
