Match report

Hopes had been high having produced two good wins in the past two matches but these were soon dashed by a competent Ferguslie outfit. Ahmad with possibly one of the longest bowling run ups seen at Accies for some time quickly removed Thomas Aston [0] to a good catch.  Arman Khan settled in with Euan Ramsay to take the score to 18 impressing Sam Scott, the Scotland U13 manager, with his technique only to be bowled for 2 playing round a fast straight ball from Spence.  There followed a succession of potential "bag packers" in Moffat, Gilkison and McDonald all out for ducks, the last falling for a self-destruct run out.  Meanwhile Ramsay was looking good at the other end compiling 16 runs before he was bowled attempting a pretty extravagant shot.  Bar John Oliver who remained 3 not out at the end of an extremely disappointing batting display the remainder of the order fell in quick succession including another self destruct [literally] run by Horne who subsequently had to go home to take pain killers.

In reply at least the bowlers had taken on board the lesson from the Hillhead match in which wides and no balls proliferated bowling a decent line and length.  An early break through saw McAlpine-Scott bowl Spence with his first ball of the second over.   With the total on 26 Khan in the covers ran out Wainwright who, looking for another quick single,  was backing up too far.  However that man Ahmad again proved a thorn cruising to 33 not out including several very well calculated quick singles that the Accies' youngsters just could not contain and then capitalising by finishing the match with three boundaries in seven balls.

Unfortunately a first innings total of 44 was about that amount short of par for the evening.  John Oliver did a tidy job behing the stumps with no byes conceded.
