Match report

Clydesdale won the toss and elected to bat first. We were bowling fairly ok against a stronger Clydesdale Team with the score on 63 for 1 wicket after 10 overs. They then started accelerating the run rate in the next 10 overs with plenty of wickets in hand. At the end of the 18th over their 2nd wicket partnership of 108 was ended by a good diving stop by Ekaansh and throw back to the bowlers end for Pranav to collect and get a run out. 20th over saw some very un-professional running between the wickets with the sole aim of trying to "hog" the strike and getting top 3 of their teammates run out in 6 balls, including a set batsman on 62 runs. Clydesdale finished on 157 on 5 in 20 overs.

Having been bundled all out for just 44 in just 14 over in our previous outing with Clydesdale our main aim was to play all the 20 overs. Crawford and Shaan opened the innings. First 2 overs seemed to be positive with Crawford executing a beautiful cover drive against their pacer who claimed 6 wickets in our previous outing. But then we gave away 3 wickets in the 3rd  and 4th  over. With top 3 back in the pavilion, Oscar and Jatin played well to stick around for some time before Oscar got run-out with no proper communication. Pranav and Jatin then continued building the innings. In the 13th over Jatin scored 16 runs of 4 balls including a no ball. But got out in the same over going for another over the top shot having scored 33 of 31 balls. Pranav got run out in the next over, again because of lack of communication and alertness. Next one to get run-out was Rehan with little or no communication and awareness between the pair. Rest of the wickets fell trying to score runs and we finished on 105 for 10 in 19.3 overs.  Overall, it was an improvement from our previous game with Clydesdale. If everyone works harder of their individual skills, next game against Clydesdale could be very interesting.

Lessons to Learn:

  1. Runs will come if we spend more time at the crease.
  2. Non-strikers need to learn the basic's on taking a start out of the crease as soon as the bowler has released the ball.
  3. Being ready for the run rather than reacting to the situation andor getting back into the crease in split second if required.
  4. COMMUNICATION:
  • Non striker's call if behind the batting stumps.
  • Striker's call if behind the Bowlers stumps.
  • Else both have to communicate with the understanding of who is running to the "danger" end.
