Match report

First round of the Frank Smith Trophy. Accies win the toss and elect to bat. The Ferguslie opening bowlers were miserly and Mohsan and Khan were very wary making just 19 from the first 8 overs.  However they were still there scoring 29 from the next 5 overs when Mohsan was bowled playing across a straight ball. Khan and the replacement batsmen then took toll of the Ferguslie bowlers scoring a further 53 from the last 7 overs to get to 101.  With some accurate bowling that might be a reasonable total to defend as it has been raining for the last 10 overs.

However the Accies lads never managed a consistent line and length with the wet ball with Dhruv being surprisingly expensive.  Dean Kennedy took heavy toll on all bowlers to reach his half century, albeit having been dropped twice in the process.  Leon Hay made a very smart stumping off Kerr Moir.

Sadly John Oliver had been taken ill at the last moment and this allowed 12 year old Andrew Robinson to make his debut.  We hope he enjoyed his experience of "the big time" and no doubt he will make many more appearances for the side in years to come.

In the final analysis the respective number of boundaries was the difference between the sides. Ferguslie hit the rope 15 times whilst Accies only managed it 5 times.

Not good conditions for playing cricket but the match had to be played.
